Dear Vinewood Preschool Families,
We realize it must be frustrating for you to be wondering when school will actually restart – especially given the ever-evolving series of plans and dates that seem to be announced then changed. So, please accept our sincere apologies for the inconveniences created by the decisions explained below, but we believe these 2 important schedule modifications will achieve the greatest total benefit for all concerned.
When we contacted you near the end of June -- our plan was to have the children return to school on Monday, August 3rd with a Back-To-School Night the preceding Wednesday (7/29). With the recent spike in coronavirus cases and the resulting regulatory restrictions, we have been balancing the “wait and see” opportunity for gaining greater clarity with the need for decisions to be made and properly communicated to you. Consequently, we have made some difficult decisions:
The 2020-21 school year start date will be postponed an additional 5 weeks. Classroom instruction will resume on Tuesday, September 8th (the day after Labor Day) for our T-Th students; Wednesday, September 9th for our M-W-F students.
“Back to School Night” (previously scheduled for Wed., 7/29) is being changed from a group activity to a series of individual tour-appointments during the last 2 weeks of August. You’ll be invited to bring your child to the Preschool, meet their Teacher, tour the facility, ask questions, etc. We believe this will also make the first day of school an easier transition for your child. You’ll receive further instructions via the Remind app (see below).
COMMUNICATION WITH VINEWOOD PRESCHOOL: Moving forward, we will use the Remind app to communicate important information to you. Please download the app and sign up for your child’s class. Instructions are included
Our prioritized purpose is “to provide a fun, safe and loving environment where the children can play and socialize”, and we believe these two schedule changes best serve those priority purposes. During the 5-week period between 8/3 and 9/8 -- we also expect to gain a better handle on where the coronavirus cases and resulting regulatory restrictions may be heading.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding, and feel free to call or text me if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.
Thanks, and Blessings,
Debi Hyzdu / Director
